Farm business, small business support - Rural Financial Counselling Service WSW
Get to know your local RFCS

Confidential, free, independent & invaluable business support for #StrongRuralCommunities

The government-funded RFCS has operated nationwide for 35 years in 2021, providing free business support to primary producers. The RFCS now also supports rural and regional small business owners experiencing or at risk of financial hardship, or just navigating the challenges of operating after drought, bushfire or COVID19.

RFCS WSW is your local provider with counsellors working across Victoria’s western region.

Rural financial counsellors and small business financial counsellors are based in the regions they work in, and understand local conditions and communities.

RFCS WSW takes a holistic approach to financial counselling. A well-being in business program ensures anyone working with a financial counsellor is fully supported.

New land tax waiver

The Victorian Government has announced further land tax assistance for eligible landowners who have been impacted by COVID-19.

In March 2020, commercial landowners with less than $1m in taxable property received a land tax deferral until 31 March 2021.

Since then, a 25% to 50% land tax waiver has been announced with increased eligibility for both commercial landowners and residential landlords.

Surf Coast: Taking care of business

As a business support initiative, Council is collecting information on how our local businesses have altered their business hours and services (e.g. home delivery or take-away) using an online survey, email and phone calls.

If you are a Surf Coast Business and have altered your business operations, please complete the
Taking Care of Business Survey and tell us how you are doing business during the Stage 1 Covid shutdown and social distancing practice.

This information will be made available via Surf Coast Visitor Information Centres, the Surf Coast Shire Council website, social media and print.

The aim is to inform local residents of services currently available and to assist local businesses to find enough customers to be sustainable at this time.

We know that these are challenging times for everyone. We are here to support Surf Coast businesses find their way through. The best way we can do this is together.

Take care, stay in touch, and stay safe.
