New land tax waiver

The Victorian Government has announced further land tax assistance for eligible landowners who have been impacted by COVID-19.

In March 2020, commercial landowners with less than $1m in taxable property received a land tax deferral until 31 March 2021.

Flagship Farmers – client news from West Carr & Harvey

The McDonald’s Flagship Farmers Program provides an opportunity for farmers within McDonald’s supply chain to be recognised for their commitment to agricultural sustainability. The platform allows them to share their knowledge with other farmers around the world with a view to driving positive change in the industry and promoting sustainable practices.

As generational farmers committed to the future of their Boorook property, David and Nick Allen have been the first Australian producers to be named as “Flagship Farmers” within the program.

They have been recognised for their focus on succession planning and sustainable practices such as grazing management, tree planting and water conservation.

Inspired by the knowledge sharing as a result of the program, David recently made the decision to travel to Europe to connect with other flagship farmers and learn more about their sustainability practices on farm.

Congratulations to the Allen family on being recognised by the program and for their ongoing commitment to sustainability!  To find out more: https://www.flagshipfarmers.com/en/profile/david-and-nick-allen/

Heart Mind Project – a new way of managing stress in the workplace

Life is busy and taking the time for self-care can be last on our to-do list. Often the impact of workplace stress can go unnoticed until it’s too late. Stress can also impact on families. How many of us have allowed stress and work pressures to affect our relationships, causing arguments with your partner or even yelling at the kids?

As a result, our client, Andy Fox was inspired to start the “Heart Mind Project” through the provision of what is called the “Resilience Advantage Program”. This program is based on more than 20 years of peer-reviewed research and is proven at a corporate and military level.

Andy believes living from the heart allows you to access the “Power of the Heart” – synchronising of the heart and the mind – with a goal to achieve clearer inspired thinking, a reduction of stress, creation of emotional resilience and a significant improvement in your quality of life indicators.

The goal? Clearer, more inspired thinking, a reduction of stress, enhanced emotional resilience and an improvement in the quality of life for yourself and your employees.

New office for West Carr & Harvey

Not long after celebrating 70 years in Geelong, our growing accounting firm West Carr & Harvey have moved location to a custom built premises at Federal Mills in North Geelong.

In the last 20 years, we have grown from 12 staff to 60 and the move was vital to allow for our continued growth.

The move is a logical one with many of our business relationships already in place in the precinct because we specialise in assisting start-up businesses. And we look forward to providing ongoing support to these new businesses.

The new premises has been named a “flagship” office for the area by property developer, Cameron Hamilton. “This space is one of the largest at Federal Mills and is the most exciting office fitout our new ‘Hamilton Group Spaces’ business has delivered. We’re very proud to welcome another progressive business to our precinct at Federal Mills & Pivot City.”
